Based on the 2007 NYT bestseller by Diane Ackerman, this movie by Niki Caro tells the true story of Antonina Żabinska (starred by Jessica Chastain). Along with her husband Jan, Antonina worked as the keeper in Warsaw's Zoo and during German occupation of Poland heroically saved lives of over three hundred Jews imprisoned by Germans in the ghetto.  For risking their lives to save Jews from ekstermination during the Holocaust, the Żabinski's have been recognized by Yad Vashem as Righteous Among the Nations.
